Touriseum receives nomination from European Museums Award
The Touriseum, the South Tyrol Museum of Tourism, took part last weekend (15 June 2006) in the final round for the awarding of the prize of the "European Museum of the Year" in Lisbon. Museum director Paul Rösch received a nomination for the "charming layout of the museum tour" from Massimo Negri, Director of the European Museum Forum.
Last weekend the Touriseum participated in the final round of the "European Museum of the Year" award in the Portuguese capital Lisbon. The jury was especially impressed by the layout of the South Tyrol Museum of Tourism. Touriseum Director Paul Rösch was presented with a nomination by Marco Negri, Director of the European Museum Forum, for the layout of the exhibition tour. According to the jury, the Touriseum treated the history of tourism in a "humorous way" and placed it in a "wide historical and social context". The Museum also offered excellent service facilities for visitors. Its general impression was described as "charming".
The final round of the European Museum Awards involved 34 museums from 19 countries. Besides the Touriseum, two other museums from Italy were represented: the "Ecomuseo delle Acque di Ridracoli" in Bagno Romagna and the "Galata – Museo del Mare" in Genoa. This year's "European Museum Award" went to the "CosmoCaixa" museum in Barcelona.
