Waiter exhibition from 4 December in Wolkenstein
The Touriseum exhibition on the waiting profession now has a trilingual title: “Cie ëis’a gën? Sie wünschen? Desidera?” [What would you like?] and, since 4 December, can be seen until 1 April 2013 in the “Tublà da Nives” cultural centre in Wolkenstein/Selva di Val Gardena.
The "Cie ëis'a gën? Sie wünschen? Desidera?" exhibition, which opened on 4 December, offers a view of the historical development of the waiting profession and the different life situations and tasks of serving staff. The exhibition was conceived by the Touriseum in Meran, where it appeared during 2011.
As in the Touriseum in 2011, at the forefront of the exhibition "Cie ëis'a gën? Sie wünschen? Desidera?" is the difficult relationship waiters and waitresses have with their guests, with particular attention paid to the communication between those serving and those being served. But also the history of the waiting profession, the role of women in service, "waiter's woe" (long working hours, low wages), the topic of tipping and the training of serving staff are also addressed at the exhibition.
The content is presented in the form of film projections. Visitors sit down at set tables in various establishments and are served by six virtual waiters and waitresses. Alongside the film projections, genuine professionals will also be having their say at the exhibition. There are excerpts from films made by the South Tyrolean director Karl Prossliner, who over the past 15 years has conducted interviews with waiters and waitresses from all over South Tyrol.
The exhibition can be seen until 1 April 2013 in the "Tublà da Nives" cultural centre at Nivesstrasse 7 in in Wolkenstein in the Gröden Valley, from Sundays to Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 5 to 7 p.m. (closed 25 December). The exhibition is open from 5 to 7 p.m. on 1 and 6 January and on 31 March and 1 April.
