  • The Touriseum steps into virtual worlds

    Virtual Tour: Friday, 10 October from 1700

    The Touriseum has created a new multimedia computer tour, to be presented on Friday, 10 October from 1700 onwards at Trauttmansdorff Castle. Following the presentation, Josef Rohrer will chair a debate on the topic of the use of Multimedia in Museums.

    Between 5 and 6 September at the Touriseum, 13 contributors will be addressing the topic of Andreas Hofer and the effects of the Tyrolean struggle for freedom on tourism. Here is a brief description of the lectures and contributors.

  • Hofer conference: The conference programme

    Andreas Hofer - a hero of tourism? On 5 and 6 September, the Touriseum, the South Tyrolean tourism museum, is holding a conference on this question. You can find the conference programme here. For organisational reasons, conference participants are requested to notify their attendance in advance. Applications are now being taken at the Touriseum and participation in the conference is free. Contributions will be in German, while it is planned to provide summaries in Italian and English in the record of conference proceedings.

  • 29 March: Sissi afternoon at the Touriseum

    Sissi afternoon.

    One week after the opening of the Touriseum and the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle comes the first major event of the year, the Sissi afternoon. On Saturday, 29 March from 1.30 p.m. onwards, visitors will be welcomed to a literary and musical event with Brigitte Hamann, Josef Rohrer, Elena Righi and the “Herbert Pixner Project”.

  • New book on Sissi published

    Since Friday, 7 March, a new Touriseum publication has been on sale. The book, “Sissi in Meran”, is now available in bookstores: it will be officially unveiled at a press conference to take place on 27 March, followed by a Sissi afternoon to be held at Trauttmansdorff Castle on 29 March.

  • 5 and 6 september: conference on Andreas Hofer

    On 5 and 6 September 2008, the Touriseum, the South Tyrolean tourism museum, is organising a conference at Trauttmansdorff Castle near Meran on the subject of Andreas Hofer and his significance for the development of tourism in Tyrol.

  • Touriseum: new for 2008

    The Touriseum does not currently have any special exhibitions planned for the coming year. Nevertheless, 2008 has some surprises in store for friends of the Touriseum. The biggest innovation will be the opening, on the second floor of Trauttmansdorff Castle, of a permanent exhibition dedicated to the Empress Sissi.

  • Waltraud Mittich’s Grand Hotel Stories

    Waltraud Mittich’s Grand Hotel Stories: at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, 5 July, Waltraud Mittich gets to grips with the story of the Grand Hotel at the Hotel Bavaria in Meran. Her Grand Hotel stories are the prelude to a “Literatour” of the supporting programme for the exhibition, “Grand Hotel. Literary Stage”, currently running at the Touriseum.

  • Touriseum links Grand Hotel and literature – Exhibition opens

    LPA – The South Tyrol Museum of Tourism and the Munich House of Literature have risen to the challenge of presenting literature in an exhibition. The result is the “Grand Hotel. Literary Stage” exhibition, opened yesterday evening (28 June) by South Tyrolean Councillor for Culture, Sabina Kasslatter Mur, at the Meran Touriseum.
